Introduction

Tel It Media is a site built to showcase the beauty and splendour of Zimbabwe and its people.

• Went Live: July 12 2022
• Problem statement: There are parts of Zimbabwe that don’t get the attention they deserve; the places, the people, the history. Tel It Media aims to highlight those parts.
• Goal: Be a focal point for hidden gems in Zimbabwe. In addition attract both the English and French speaking communities of the contitnent, country and world.

Restructuring the site

I was brought onto this project when some things had already been done. I first had to restructure the site to better facilitate what the goal intended. This involved:

• removing some pages
• ensuring English and French pages correspond
• making sure there are no dead links

Migrating to a different host

In accordance to being a Zimbabwean site, the domain and hosting provider had to be changed to a local one.

Gathering and publishing media for the site

As it is a media site; videos, images and article pieces are gathered from various events the team goes on. My task is to make sure they are uploaded and working correctly.

Challenges & Solutions

Because of the nature of the site, some challenges were encountered.

Challenges

• The process to get videos was a bit daunting.

Proposed Solutions

• A flow was created where videos went from raw to edited to Youtube to th site.

Lessons Learnt

• WordPress doesn’t give you as much freedom as I would like

Conclusion

Tel It Media has been interesting as I see how many people we have been able to bring to light and impact.
